Attribute

A characteristic of a product. For example, an attribute of a dresser could be “Country of origin,” and the value of this attribute for a particular dresser could be “Thailand. Customers can filter a list of products by values of one or more attributes. Sample product page with attributes in Magento Frontend:

In Magento backend, product attributes are managed at product page, accessible via Catalog > Manage Products > Product name menu:

New Product Attributes can be created at Catalog > Manage Attributes screen in Magento backend and combined in groups by some common property. For example, all attributes specific for furniture can be grouped into Furniture attributes Attribute Group and this group, can be set as a default Product Attribute Set for all furniture products.
